On My Search for the One Principle

There were days when I was little and thought my whole life depended on me able to fulfil those rules and principles laid down by those who were my only authority. Parents at home, relatives…

What If You Were Born With Tusks

Is it only then that you will be appalled?

“The greatness of a nation can be judged by how it treats its animals.” — Mahatma Gandhi

I have had enough.

I believe in freedom of speech, I understand that people will have different views than I have, I am intelligent and empathetic enough to have non-emotional conversations with people who have opposing views of mine… but I have had enough.

Let me be clear, this is not about politics. This is about our planet and the beings we share this planet with. The beings that we are supposed to live symbiotically with. Instead we have a leader — a leader the people chose — who is blatantly disregarding not only entire species of fellow beings but also our planet — our home.

If you think money and greed are more important than protecting the living beings who SHARE this planet with us, then I have no idea what to say and It is my opinion that you and I would not even be able to have an intelligent conversation about it. If you don’t give a rat’s ass about your HOME, because that is what our planet is — OUR home — then shame on you. Shame. Shame. Shame.

How anyone can stand behind a decision to lift a ban that protects elephants from being killed simply for cash and greed is dumfounding. Again, this is NOT political — this is human, this is decency, this is nurture, nature and all of the beauty that our world provides us every day. The arrogance of man thinking that any animal is a “trophy” is baffling. The absolutely narcissism that man would even label an animal a “trophy” is sickening. And so, I will focus on the good, the strong, the ones who fight for the underdog, and I will support them. But I also will not ignore the ones who come from hate since their decisions are permeating our ozone, our air, our water, our world, our bodies, our hearts.

Words seem so trivial. Posts seem so trivial. But are they? They help us stand up together in our solitary cubicles. They help us unite when we are on different continents and don’t even know each other. Words help us feel, see, hear and UNDERSTAND each other. So, I will write because I am not too sure what else I can do. Maybe some other way I can help will present itself, but for the moment I will write.

I will not be led by hate. I will be led by love and only love.

Let’s make America great again by treating the animals of our planet with the respect that they deserve. “Only if we understand can we care. Only if we care will we help. Only if we help shall all be saved.” — Jane Goodall

Love, love, love in a stolen, beating ivory heart.
