Learning Through Mistakes

I’ve come to realize how important it is to understand that you cannot change what has happened. What you can do though, is change that burden of hindsight into a gift of premonition.

I’m at a point in life where I’ve decided to drop the thoughts of regret. I see every situation as a lesson, filled with the knowledge that would help me become a better person. Mistakes will always occur, you won’t always get things right; that is absolutely inevitable, but what you truly can change is everything after that. With the knowledge of hindsight, you can plan for the future, you can begin to predict the future.

So how do I turn the tide? How do I turn mistakes into something less painful?

Think carefully about the mistakes made. Give yourself a few hours to feel the pain but try as much as possible to shield yourself from the feeling of regret. Tell yourself over and over again that there must be a reason why this happened, and more often than not there is a reason. After you have given yourself that time, begin to analyze the reasons why and how you can make changes. Get to work immediately in your mind, gather your thoughts and start to think of ways to plan similar future scenarios, the goal is to make sure those mistakes never happen again. You have hindsight now as a tool, no longer a burden but a gift. When you begin to see hindsight as a gift, you then realize you are making great headway. You literally feel the weight get off your shoulders. All of this process will free your thoughts and puts them in a peaceful place, a place where you need to be in order for goodness and less disappointment to come your way.

I’ll briefly speak about thoughts now and hopefully more in-depth in a separate article. Thoughts in my perception are one of the fundamental building blocks of life. They actively decide how your life turns out. You are what you think, meaning it is vital to your well being that you manage your disappointments.

The Link Between Thoughts, Mistakes and Wellbeing.

In a state of anger and regret, which has been generated from disappointment, you begin to form thoughts which almost certainly will not do you any good. It is difficult after something disappointing has occurred to keep up a state of mind filled with positivity. Knowing that thoughts transform into deed, you can imagine the horror of where it all leads; this is why it is beneficial to direct all efforts toward feeling uplifted, hopeful and positive after you’ve made mistakes. The process of thoughts transforming into deeds will not stop just so you feel better, as you generate those thoughts they begin to transform irrespective of what your plans might be. So, acknowledge your mistakes and begin to move forward with a plan of action, a plan that utilises using your current situation for future benefits.
