A Tribute to A Dear Friend

Kuu was a white Shiba Inu (白柴) born and raised in Aomori. Her owner, Toshimi described her as “kind and gentle.”

I followed Kuu in 2018. Her pure white coat and thick fluff immediately drew me in. After a few months, I decided to reach out to her owner, Toshimi via direct messaging. I distinctly remember that our very first conversation was about the cherry blossom festival in Aomori, Toshimi’s place of residence. She and I have now been friends for four years.

Kuu was born on May 9, 2007. Toshimi told me that her friend, who worked at a pet shop at the time, informed her that a litter of Shiba Inus had recently been born. When Toshimi first saw Kuu, it was love at first sight!

While Kuu has held many jobs, her main passion was acting! She has played various roles such as Audrey Hepburn, Kaonashi (顔なし), and Belle of “Beauty and the Beast.” My personal favorite was her Audrey Hepburn “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” cosplay.

On June 27, 2022, Kuu sadly passed away at fifteen years old, leaving Toshimi absolutely devastated. Kuu warmed the hearts of thousands of fans all over the world, and this loss impacted all of us. She will be dearly missed.
