Atomic Habits and my reflection

The cover of this book is hard to miss as it has been on the shelf as a top selling book each time I enter the bookstore. Thus far, there are over 8 million copies sold and this book titled Atomic Habits by James Clear was recently recommended by a colleague during our sharing session. Side track, the management felt that setting aside 10 minutes of sharing just about anything (from tech, to life, to camping) would be great to learn from one another since our mode of work has been virtual, this could also be a time to get to know new people in the team. I found this initiative not only useful but also, enriching. It really shows a different facet of my colleagues and I’m always thrilled for this sharing.

Truthfully, it was not my first time hearing about the book. I could distinctly remember listening to it on audible while I was clocking steps for a virtual run before. This time, what is different is hearing about the book from the perspective of another person and that is not something that I get to hear all the time. He shared about the 4 stages: Cue, Craving, Response and Reward. He also nicely tied it back to his experience of completing a whole series of Better Call Saul (his Want) as a reward for getting back to the gym (his Need). The first time chancing upon this book has to be the most impactful one and that was when I had borrowed the physical book from a local library. The book was a definite page turner as I took down meaningful life lessons from it.

Similar to how I psyched myself to be 1% better today than I was yesterday, here is a quote in his book which I found similar and can live by.

Here are other meaningful quotes that I would like to share which really shows that you should pick up this book whereever you can — from your bookstore or library.
