Over and over the media has tried to pin the last nail in the coffin for HCQ potentially being an effective treatment for COVID, but if the science was truly settled, how come there are still several ongoing trials?
As you can see in this article, what’s being uncovered is that HCQ doesn’t really do much for anyone once they are sick. It’s also being shown that by itself, HCQ isn’t effective either, whether for prophylaxis or otherwise.
In other words, it was never supposed to help in most of these circumstances others are using as 'evidence' that HCQ does not work.
In a gist, HCQ's function is to improve the uptake of Zinc in the cell, which is what really fights off the virus. Zinc being a natural antiviral, and important part of the immune system.
Despite there being plenty of talk around this idea dating back to March, there hasn't been much research on it, choosing only to study HCQ in isolation. I tend to feel that has been deliberate, not out of ignorance.
